Summer is here and so are the end of afternoon drinks with friends or colleagues, sitting at a terrace, enjoying the sun… But what to drink if you want to stay healthy? I am not saying that enjoying a cocktail from time to time is bad but if it becomes a regular thing during summer, calories can add up fast and put you off track with your healthy habits. So what about a drink that is not only tasty but also looks fancy AND is good for you! Yes, that exists! I created this Summer Matcha iced tea so we can all enjoy summer without guilt!
This recipe is really easy to make. The only thing you might have to buy is some good quality Matcha powder. You can usually find it at tea shops or Asian grocery stores. You will also need some fresh herbs – perfect if you have some growing in your garden. I used mint and basil but you can use any herbs you like (thyme, tarragon).
And that’s about all you need!
- A handful fresh herbs (mint, thyme, tarragon, basil), keep a few sprigs on the side for garnish
- ice cubes
- 2 cups of cold water
- 1 or 2 tsp Matcha powder
- A drop of agave sirop
- Put herbs at the bottom of your shaker and use a muddler to crush them so they can release their flavour.
- Add some ice cubes, water, agave sirop and Matcha powder to the shaker and shake until the Matcha has dissolved.
- Pour the mixture into 2 glasses filled with ice cubes, garnish with herbs and it's ready to serve!
